The Fenix HP12R-T is a balanced trail headlamp built specifically around the way distance runners and night hikers actually move. A rear battery case shifts weight off your forehead and onto the back of your head, so hours on the trail feel lighter than the spec sheet suggests, while a perforated, breathable, reflective headband keeps you cool and visible to passing traffic or fellow runners.
Three light sources — a 1,300-lumen max neutral white beam, a clarity-focused white mode, and a red light for preserving night vision — adapt to changing terrain and conditions without you breaking stride. Dual switches keep mode changes intuitive even with gloves on, and a built-in rear red light (steady or flashing) adds an extra layer of visibility on shared trails and roads. Rated for 2-meter impact resistance and IP66 water resistance, with both electronic and physical lockout to prevent accidental activation in your pack, the HP12R-T backs up its comfort-first design with genuine durability — plus a 656-foot beam and up to 310 hours of runtime for the longest nights out.

The Fenix HP12R headlamp is okay, but I thought it would be brighter based on the description. It works fine for short walks, but on a really dark trail, it could use a little more power. Packaging was also a bit damaged when it arrived.

Bright light for night hikes!
I recently took the Fenix HP12R on a camping trip and it was fantastic! The balanced design really makes it comfortable to wear for hours, and the brightness is seriously impressive. It lit up the entire trail, making my night hikes way more enjoyable.

A solid headlamp but with a minor hiccup
The Fenix HP12R is a great headlamp for trail running, but I did have some trouble adjusting the straps at first. Once I got it on, though, the brightness was amazing. It's definitely a keeper, just wish the setup was a bit simpler!

Stopped working after a week
I was excited to use the Fenix HP12R, but it stopped working after just a week of regular use. I loved the light while it lasted; very bright and comfortable. It’s frustrating that it didn’t hold up, though. I wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience.
