Bulb & Usage Advisory
Do not exceed the maximum wattage specified on the fixture label.
Keep away from flammable materials. Allow adequate ventilation around the fixture.
Keep out of reach of children. Not suitable for wet locations unless rated IP65 or higher.
DOB, which stands for "Driver on Board," is a technology that integrates the driver power supply circuit directly onto the LED board itself. It fundamentally differs from the traditional separated structure of "LED bulb/tube + independent external driver." Its benefits are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Lower Cost
Reduced Materials: Eliminates the need for separate external driver housings, connecting wires, and connectors.
Simplified Assembly: The production process is simpler, as it removes the step of assembling the LED board and the driver together.
Lower Total System Cost: Although the board itself might be slightly more complex, the total material and manufacturing cost of the lighting system is significantly reduced.
More Compact Structure and Flexible Design
Smaller Size: The absence of a separate driver allows luminaires to be made thinner, smaller, and lighter, ideal for space-sensitive applications like ultra-slim panel lights, downlights, and stylish residential lighting.
Design Freedom: Luminaire designers no longer need to reserve space for bulky drivers, enabling the creation of more diverse luminaire forms.
Higher Efficiency and Longer Lifespan
Fewer Power Conversion Stages: Simple AC-to-DC direct conversion reduces energy loss across multiple stages, improving system efficiency.
Superior Thermal Management: Distributing the heat-generating components from the driver circuit across a larger board aids heat dissipation, avoiding the issue of concentrated heat inside a separate driver. Lower operating temperatures help extend the lifespan of both the LEDs and the driver components.
High Reliability
Fewer Connection Points: Eliminates the physical wires and connectors between the board and the driver, which are often potential points of failure in a system.
More Robust Components: Utilizes solid-state components (e.g., ICs, capacitors, inductors) to replace the electrolytic capacitors (especially high-voltage ones) commonly found in traditional drivers. Electrolytic capacitors are typically the primary component that limits the driver's lifespan.
